We are looking for a highly motivated Engineering Manager who wants to grow and to help Vesper get to the next level.

As our Engineering Manager at Vesper, you will be responsible for the people and processes of the Development team. You'll lead, mentor, and motivate your team while ensuring that all operational processes are effective, efficient, and aligned with our company goals. You are proactive and passionate about team culture and delivery, and will get both the freedom and responsibility to shape how we build and grow our engineering team.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate your team to achieve their objectives and goals. Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, feedback, and updates. Ensure a positive team culture, in line with the Vesper Blueprint.

  • Operational Excellence: Ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds performance targets and delivers high-quality work. Monitor the effectiveness of operational processes and propose and implement improvements where needed.

  • Active Code Contribution: Work side-by-side with your team implementing new features and improvements in the codebases. Lead refinements and retros together with the Product Manager.

  • Performance Management: Perform regular 1-on-1s to discuss goals, provide coaching and feedback, and support your team's growth. In collaboration with the Lead Developers, conduct regular performance reviews and implement improvement plans where necessary.

  • Talent Management: Build and maintain a high-performing team through effective hiring, onboarding, and growth practices. Lead recruitment from A to Z in close collaboration with the Recruiter and Lead Developer, and plan for future team needs.

  • Strategic Input: Own the team OKRs and contribute to short- and long-term departmental strategy in collaboration with the CTO.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster a strong collaborative relationship between Development and Product. Address stakeholder concerns and feedback proactively and act as a liaison between the team and C-level management.

What you will bring

  • Proven experience in an Engineering Manager or similar people-management role within a software development environment

  • Solid knowledge of our development ecosystem: PHP (Laravel), Databases (MySQL), Git/Github, CI/CD

  • Strong ability to lead with empathy, coach for performance, and develop talent

  • Experience owning team OKRs and contributing to departmental or company strategy

  • Ability to identify and implement improvements to engineering processes and ways of working

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, both within the team and across departments

  • Fluent in English
