The opportunity 

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team in our Member Hive. The team's main objective is to improve the sports and wellness experience of hundreds of thousands of members. Together with the Product Manager, your leadership skills will play a crucial role in our mission to transform the way people engage with sports and wellness, by utilizing modern technology.

As an Engineering Manager at Urban Sports Club, your primary duty is to ensure the well-being of the engineers in your team. You ensure they are growing as engineers, delivering cutting-edge, quality and timely technology, and generally have a great time at Urban Sports Club. A proven technology background is vital to challenge your team members to be their best. You influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution.

What you will do

• You build, lead, and grow a high-performing engineering team through hiring, coaching, and career development
• You align the team’s technical vision and strategy with company goals and business priorities
• You collaborate with product, engineering leaders, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality, user-focused solutions
• You champion agile practices, code reviews, automated testing, and engineering excellence
• You continuously improve development processes, tools, and team effectiveness
• You partner with staff engineers and your team to make sound, timely technical decisions
• You foster cross-functional collaboration and encourage innovative problem-solving
• You contribute to the overall product direction and long-term technical strategy

What you will need to succeed

• You bring proven experience leading engineering teams in product- and technology-driven environments
• You contribute to architectural discussions and help teams make effective technical trade-offs
• You recruit, onboard, and develop engineers, supporting their professional growth
• You communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• You drive technical initiatives, solve complex challenges, and make timely decisions that enable team success
• You focus on efficient delivery, high quality, and continuous improvement
• You have a strong technical foundation and deep understanding of software development practices and technologies
