About the role | The foundation for everything we do

Data is one of the most valuable assets for Tryg, and as Senior Data Engineer, you will be central in executing the data strategy within Pricing, Portfolio Management and Underwriting. You will operate at the intersection of business and technology, working closely with business to ensure scalable data products that create business value both locally and across the Nordics.

As Senior Data Engineer, you are accountable for the bridge between raw data and business-oriented data products. Ensuring that data is available, trustworthy, well-modelled, governed, cost-efficient, and easy for analysts, actuaries, and data scientists to use.

  • Raw data ingestion: Ingest source-system data into relational databases or Lakehouse in a controlled, repeatable, and auditable way, supporting batch, streaming, and unstructured data where relevant.
  • Data modelling and transformation: Build scalable pipelines that turn raw/bronze data into refined/silver and curated/gold data products applying medallion architecture.
  • Data product ownership: Own, maintain and improve production-grade data products with stable schemas, clear business semantics, documented freshness and reliable update cadence.
  • Quality, governance and compliance: Implement data quality checks, schema management, lineage, access controls and governance.
  • Performance and cost efficiency: Optimize workflows, compute usage, storage and pipeline design to handle large datasets efficiently while managing cloud cost.
  • Operational reliability: Monitor pipelines, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure data products are reproducible, resilient, and suitable for business-critical use.
  • Engineering leadership: Guide junior engineers, review technical work, promote common standards, and contribute to architecture decisions and reusable engineering patterns.
  • Business enablement: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand priorities and translate domain needs into scalable and reusable data products.
