Software Engineer – API & AI-Enabled Software Development

The Position

We are recruiting a Software Engineer to join our Sound and Vibration software portfolio team, part of HBK's global Digital organization.

In this role, you will contribute to the development of modern software solutions that enable engineers worldwide to acquire, analyze, and gain insights from measurement data. Your primary focus will be on designing and developing scalable APIs, backend services, and modern web-based applications that form the foundation of our next-generation software platforms.

You will work as part of a global R&D team supporting the development of our Advantage software portfolio. HBK products contribute to a variety of applications across technology sectors such as Automotive, Electric Drives & Generators, Aerospace, Energy, Material Testing, and Industrial Services.

This position offers the opportunity to work with modern software architectures, cloud technologies, and AI-powered development tools while collaborating with talented software engineers across multiple international locations.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining modern APIs and backend services.

  • Creating new software features within our existing product architecture.

  • Contributing to the evolution of scalable, maintainable, and secure software architectures.

  • Developing web-based applications and services using modern software technologies.

  • Leveraging AI-assisted development tools and practices to improve productivity, code quality, and innovation.

  • Contributing to engineering best practices, software quality, and development standards.

  • Supporting and maintaining the function domain and technology roadmap.

  • Participating in technical design discussions and architectural decision-making.

  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues within the software engineering community.

  • Collaborating with product management, UX, and other software teams to deliver customer value.

Professional Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in professional software development on Windows and/or Linux platforms.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

  • Strong experience with object-oriented software development, preferably in C++.

  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs, service-oriented architectures, or distributed systems.

  • Experience with modern web technologies such as React, JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, GraphQL, and related frameworks.

  • Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, containerization, and CI/CD practices is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with AI-powered software development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar technologies, and an interest in applying AI to improve software engineering workflows.

  • Familiar with Agile ways of working.

  • Strong understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and clean architecture.

  • Experience with cross-platform software development.

  • Knowledge and experience with Jira and Confluence.

  • Skilled in automated testing and quality engineering using Playwright, Vitest, React Testing Library, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).

  • Committed to engineering excellence through clean code principles, code reviews, Git-based version control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.

  • Experience within test and measurement, scientific software, or data-intensive applications is considered an advantage.

  • Curious about emerging technologies, including AI and modern development practices.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Attention to detail, thoroughness, and clear communication skills.

  • Fluent in English. Danish, German, Portuguese, and/or Dutch is a plus.
