Role Mission Develop, maintain, and evolve a strategic simulation platform used to model the performance of cooling units across the Cooling portfolio. The Role You will join Schneider Electric’s Simulation Software Platform team and contribute to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the software used to simulate cooling units across the Cooling portfolio. You will work closely with the Product Owner and the technical team, translating business and engineering needs into reliable software solutions. The platform is a strategic, cross-functional tool that supports multiple teams, including R&D and Sales. Because of its technical scope and legacy components, the successful candidate will initially work alongside senior colleagues to build a strong understanding of the platform, its architecture, and the underlying thermodynamic models. Key Responsibilities Maintain and evolve the existing software platform, including legacy components developed primarily in VB6, VB.NET, and C#. Manage data access and persistence using Microsoft Access, SQLite, and Entity Framework, with a particular focus on SQLite-based applications. Develop simulation models for new cooling units and maintain or enhance models for existing products. Design and implement new features, custom calculation logic, and complex numerical optimization algorithms. Test code changes and simulation results to ensure software robustness, numerical reliability, and physical consistency. Gather requirements from Sales, R&D, and other stakeholders, assessing feasibility, impact, and potential integration into the platform. Translate business and functional requirements into clear software specifications for development and validation. Collaborate with the Product Owner and technical team to prioritize improvements and support the platform’s long-term evolution. Required Qualifications and Experience Technical diploma in Computer Science, or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in software development, including object-oriented programming and the development of complex software applications. Strong knowledge of C# and VB.NET, with the ability to understand, troubleshoot, and maintain legacy applications developed in VB6. Hands-on experience with relational databases, particularly Microsoft Access and SQLite, as well as Entity Framework for data access and management. Knowledge of thermodynamics and its practical applications, ideally in cooling, refrigeration, HVAC, or thermal systems. Good knowledge of numerical methods and their implementation in engineering software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment and communicate technical topics clearly to both software and engineering stakeholders. What We Offer Fixed-term employment contract. Flexible working arrangements. An exciting role within an international company, with opportunities to contribute to cross-functional and cross-regional projects.
