What You’ll Build 

 

In this role, you will build two new cloud-managed services to provide PostgreSQL and Redis instances to SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) users. The services aim to help SAP internal and external clients to have a seamless experience. Given the connection to SAP Core Infrastructure, this project is a major priority for SAP and BTP. 

You'll be responsible for: 

• Supporting the development and maintenance of two complex BTP Cloud Managed Services deployed in a cloud environment. 
• Learning new technologies and growing alongside a team that adopts state-of-the-art technologies. 
• Adhering to coding best practices and guidelines for clean code. 
• Participating in design discussions on the best way forward to build the services. 
• Getting exposure to DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code methodologies. 
• Collaborating with the team to work on and improve agile practices. 

 

What You Bring 

 

• Love for software development, platform engineering and learning. 
• Basic understanding of cloud development principles (the 12-factors). 
• Familiarity with containerization concepts such as Docker and Kubernetes. 
• Hands-on experience with backend development in TypeScript/Node.js or Golang. 
• Exposure to or curiosity about IaaS concepts such as Cloud Foundry or OpenStack (bonus if experience with at least one cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or GCP). 
• Basic understanding of testing practices, including unit, acceptance, end-2-end and integration tests. 
• Solid knowledge of Git. 
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts; exposure to GitHub Actions or similar tools is a plus. 
• Understanding of observability principles and tooling, including logging, metrics, and tracing (for example with tools such as OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana or OpenSearch). 
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL or Redis is a plus. 
• Experience working within Unix/Linux shell environments (good bash knowledge is a plus). 
• Fluent English speaking and writing skills are mandatory.
