We are now looking for an experienced Lead Solution Architect to join the Retail & Mobile Payments Service Domain, to help shape future payment services with a primary focus on the Digital Euro initiative within Nordic Wallets & eCom ART.

 

If you're passionate about technology leadership, modern software architecture and setting the foundation for resilient solutions at scale, this role offers a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful impact while influencing the architectural direction of critical payment services used every day across the Nordic region.  In this role, you will help define how Digital Euro capabilities integrate into Nordea's ecosystems.

 

You will work at the intersection of business strategy, customer experience, payments innovation and technology architecture, ensuring initially that future Digital Euro solutions are scalable, secure, compliant and aligned with Nordea's long-term technology strategy.

Welcome to the Retail & Mobile Payments Service Domain.

 

As a Lead Solution Architect, you will be one of the key architecture leaders within the Nordic Wallets & eCom Agile Release Train, responsible for shaping Digital Euro capabilities and their integration into customer-facing payment journeys.

 

You will work closely with Product Management, Business, Architecture, Engineering, Security, Compliance and external stakeholders to translate evolving Digital Euro requirements into practical and sustainable solution architectures.

 

You will play a central role in:

• Defining target architectures for Digital Euro adoption.
• Shaping future wallet and e-commerce payment experiences.
• Establishing architecture principles and standards.
• Driving architecture alignment across Service Domains.
• Enabling AI-assisted software engineering and modern delivery practices.
• Supporting Nordea’s transformation toward specification-driven software delivery.

 

As a Lead Solution Architect, you will combine strategic thinking with deep technical expertise while remaining close to implementation realities and engineering challenges.

 

What you will be doing

• Define and evolve the target architecture for Digital Euro capabilities within Nordic Wallets & eCom
• Drive architecture decisions supporting the target solution for Digital Euro experiences
• Assess how Digital Euro should coexist with existing payment methods and solutions
• Define architecture patterns for customer onboarding, authentication, transaction initiation, payment execution and customer support processes
• Solution architecture and strategic design into HLD, SDD and other architecture artefacts
• Translate business strategy, customer needs and regulatory requirements into executable solution designs
• Identify architecture impacts across channels, payments, security, data, APIs and operational platforms
• Support architecture governance, approval processes and technical decision-making
• Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance to delivery teams.
• Support the various execution structures and development teams building the solutions with architecture and governance/approval processes

Your experience and background

 

Required:

• Extensive experience working as a Solution Architect, Lead Architect or Enterprise Architect
• Strong understanding of payments and digital banking
• Experience from wallets, mobile payments, e-commerce payments or customer payment journeys
• Experience designing large-scale payment solutions and distributed platform architectures
• Experience working with API platforms, event-driven architectures, integration platforms, cloud-native technologies, and security and identity services
• Strong knowledge of payment orchestration and customer-facing payment journeys
• Understanding of Context Engineering concepts and their application within modern software engineering organisations
• Ability to lead architecture initiatives across multiple teams and Service Domains

 

Good to have:

• Understanding of Digital Euro, European payment initiatives, CBDC concepts or payment modernisation programmes
• Experience working with embedded banking, payment initiation and account reporting services
• Experience with AI-assisted software engineering, architecture practices and engineering productivity tooling
• Experience applying Spec-Driven Development principles and specification-based delivery approaches
