This role is built for engineers who thrive at the intersection of infrastructure and product—someone who can build reusable libraries that other developers depend on, while also delivering smooth, reliable user experiences. In this role, you will develop and own a core Python library that standardizes database connectivity across services, improving performance, consistency, and reuse. You will also design and implement scalable data pipelines capable of efficiently processing large datasets, ensuring fast, reliable, and fault-tolerant experiences as the platform grows. Responsibilities Build and ship end-to-end features across backend services, database schemas, and user-facing UI components Design, develop, and maintain a core Python library that standardizes database connectivity across services, improving performance, reliability, and reuse Optimize system performance, scalability, and architecture to support growth and high-volume usage Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to translate requirements into robust, production-ready solutions Contribute to engineering best practices around code quality, testing, documentation, and CI/CD Qualifications 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with strong full stack expertise Strong Proficiency in Python, with experience building shared libraries or frameworks used across multiple services (API’s with Django and FastAPI) Deep understanding of relational databases and data access patterns, including connection pooling, indexing, and query optimization Experience building and maintaining data pipelines for large-scale or high-volume datasets Frontend experience with React and TypeScript, including complex, performant UI components Experience working with cloud infrastructure including GCP and Kubernetes (k8s) Strong ownership mindset, problem solving skills, and the ability to operate in fast moving startup environments Benefits 26 vacation days + 2 duvet days, so you can truly recharge and enjoy life Comprehensive health and dental care coverage Central location for both offices with a fully stocked kitchen, including healthy snacks, and fresh fruit Freedom to create your own entrepreneurial experience by being part of a team in search of excellence Professional Development programs to expand your skills, and maximize your potential on the frontier of financial innovation Next Gate Tech is an equal opportunity employer.
