Senior Software Engineer - Data Platform Infrastructure

Why This Role Matters

Our data platform sits at the heart of everything we do. Every day, it powers over 9 million download jobs and 1.7 million customer queries and exports across the globe. As part of the Data Platform team, you’ll work on the core systems that make this scale possible. Three tightly aligned teams own the responsibilities of job scheduling, data retrieval, storage, transformation, and exposing data across the product.

We’re evolving our platform and technology stack, and we’re looking for someone who can bring deep expertise in distributed systems, data infrastructure, and large-scale architecture. This is a high-impact role with meaningful influence on our technical direction—and plenty of opportunity to learn, innovate, and grow.

About the Engineering Teams & the Role

Our teams own their product areas end-to-end, making daily decisions in close collaboration within and across teams, as well as with stakeholders. We work in small, iterative cycles- experimenting, learning, and deploying to production multiple times a day. We work closely with AI agents to accelerate everything from early prototyping and experimentation to building, shipping, and continuously learning in production.

Our data platform is primarily built in Rust and runs in AWS. We use open-source technologies such as DataFusion, Arrow, Parquet, and Iceberg, and extend them with our own tooling to meet the unique needs of our product.

At Funnel, engineers are responsible for the full lifecycle: from designing system architecture to implementation, deployment, and monitoring. With a customer-first mindset, we continually strive to build products that solve real problems and exceed expectations.

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For

• Experience with systems programming languages such as Rust, C/C++, Java, or Scala

• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and operations (AWS preferred)

• A default to AI mindset: leveraging AI agents to accelerate your work and impact

• Background in building distributed systems and addressing scalability, reliability, and fault-tolerance challenges

• Familiarity with large-scale batch processing systems

• Comfortable working in agile, collaborative teams

• Strong communication skills and fluency in English

Location & Eligibility

At this time, we can only consider applicants who are already based in Stockholm and meet one of the following criteria:

• Hold Swedish citizenship

• Hold EU/EEA citizenship and are currently living in Stockholm

• Have a valid Swedish work permit

Office-first

At Funnel, we have an office-first approach, and we work from the office a minimum of four days a week. We have lots of flexibility for when life happens, during the summer, through the holidays. We just like to avoid having standing remote days.
