We are looking for an experienced Azure Databricks Data Engineer to help build and scale our enterprise data platform. In this role, you will design and operationalize data pipelines that power analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives across the organization.

Join our team

You will join a growing Platform Team within a global data and AI organization, focused on building a modern, cloud-native data ecosystem on Microsoft Azure. Our team collaborates closely with data scientists, analysts, and platform engineers to deliver reliable, scalable, and governed data products. You’ll be part of an international environment where ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement are at the core

Your Mission

This Azure Databricks Data Engineer role is primarily responsible for building and operating enterprise-grade data pipelines on the Azure Databricks platform. The focus is on ingesting data from multiple sources, transforming it into trusted and usable formats, and making it available for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML workloads.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing scalable Spark-based pipelines using Databricks (batch + streaming)
  • Implementing data transformations using Delta Lake to ensure reliable, performant datasets
  • Managing governance and security using Unity Catalog (permissions, lineage, metadata)
  • Operationalizing workloads through orchestration (Databricks Jobs, DLT, structured streaming)
  • Ensuring pipelines are production-ready through monitoring, error handling, and performance tuning
  • Supporting automation and CI/CD practices to enable controlled deployments and lifecycle management in Azure

Your Profile

We are looking for a Data Engineer with strong expertise in Azure Databricks and experience delivering production-grade data platforms.

Technical skills

  • Solid hands-on experience with Azure Databricks
  • Strong knowledge of Apache Spark (PySpark / Scala, Spark SQL)
  • Good understanding of Delta Lake, including ACID transactions, partitioning, schema management, and incremental/CDC processing

Data engineering & platform development

  • Experience designing scalable data pipelines (e.g., bronze/silver/gold architecture)
  • Working with both batch and streaming data processing
  • Building modular and reusable transformation frameworks

Governance & security

  • Experience with Unity Catalog (data access control, permissions, lineage, auditability)
  • Understanding of secure data access models in multi-team environments

Performance & operations

  • Ability to optimize and troubleshoot Spark workloads (performance tuning, partitioning, scaling)
  • Familiar with monitoring, logging, and alerting for data pipelines

Azure ecosystem

  • Integration experience with ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory/Synapse, Key Vault, and Azure AD (Entra ID)

DevOps & engineering practices

  • Experience working with Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to Databricks deployment automation (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Terraform) is a plus

You take ownership and build reliable, scalable data solutions. You enjoy solving complex problems and have a strong focus on data quality, governance, and performance. You prefer an automation-first approach and work collaboratively with others to deliver value. You are also motivated to continuously improve and simplify how things are done
