Senior Cloud Connectivity Engineer

 

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

 

Cloud Unit is delivering Cloud services to Bayer worldwide. An enterprise grade solution running on major cloud providers - Google Cloud, AWS or Azure. We call it SMART.

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning and Design: Join the team responsible for planning and managing network connecting our cloud environments (intra-cloud) and on-premises.
• Leadership: Mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and support in the implementation of networking solutions.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with Squad Leads and other stakeholders to understand requirements and align integration strategies with business goals.
• Technical Oversight: Ensure that solutions are scalable, reliable, maintainable and secure adhering to best practices in IT architecture and in-line with Bayer’s strategy
• Documentation and Standards: Create, maintain & review comprehensive documentation for processes, standards, and best practices.
• Intercultural Communication: Foster an environment of open communication and collaboration among diverse teams across different geographical locations.

 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

• Educational Background: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent practical experience as an IT network engineer.
• At least 6 years of experience in networking (both classic and cloud)
• At least 4 years of experience in AWS (other clouds will be a plus)
• A deep understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing and SD-WAN
• Proficiency in IT Architecture & design: specifically in infrastructure automation, provisioning and maintenance.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively, even under pressure.
• Familiarity with IaC (e.g. Terraform/CloudFormation) and strong proficiency in Python.
• Linux command line tools and shell scripting.
• Experience with monitoring (e.g. Grafana) and troubleshooting (Wireshark) tools
• Compliance Regulations: Experience with building IT system in highly regulated environments.
• Integration and Automation Expertise: Knowledge of CI/CD processes and experience in deploying infrastructure as IaC (GitHub Repos, and GitHub Actions)
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Intercultural Competence: Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment, respecting diverse perspectives and fostering teamwork, establishing and maintaining a robust professional network.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, both spoken and written

 

Nice to have

 

• Certification in networking: CCNP or AWS Advanced Networking
• Experience with Kubernetes or container networking (especially EKS and AKS)
• Experience with network performance optimization.
• Familiarity with network security practices.
