As posted by ABB Ltd

At ABB, we help industries outrun - leaner and cleaner. Here, progress is an expectation - for you, your team, and the world. As a global market leader, we’ll give you what you need to make it happen. It won’t always be easy, growing takes grit. But at ABB, you’ll never run alone. Run what runs the world.

This role sits within ABB's Robotics business, a leading global robotics company. We're entering an exciting new chapter as we’ve announced the plan for SoftBank Group to acquire ABB Robotics. SoftBank is a globally recognized technology group and investor/operator focused on AI, robotics, and next-generation computing.  By joining us now, you’ll be part of a pioneering team shaping the future of robotics—working alongside world-class experts in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.

This Position reports to:

Global Operations Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

Implement and optimize core computer vision algorithms and software. Work across model training, inference integration, and perception module deployment. Contribute to data pipeline development, system debugging, and continuous improvement cycles in an agile development environment focused on robotic autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement algorithms for object detection, localization, and scene understanding to support robotic manipulation and situational awareness in dynamic environments.

  • Build modular vision pipelines for image acquisition, pre-processing, model inference, and post-processing. Ensure efficiency, reusability, and maintainability for real-time robotic applications. Assist in setting up training pipelines, versioning, model packaging, and deployment workflows. Use ML Ops tools to streamline model updates, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.

  • Implement and maintain well-documented APIs for perception modules and data services. Write clean, modular code and integrate functionality across the stack. Create test suites for system validation and ensure compliance with accuracy and latency targets.

  • Assist in prototyping and experimentation for new techniques and components. Contribute to rapid evaluations of feasibility, performance, and integration potential for emerging capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Background in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent experience).

  • Solid foundation in computer vision and deep learning concepts, with practical experience applying them to real-world problems.

  • Proficient in Python and C++ with thorough knowledge of software engineering fundamentals—version control, testing, debugging, and collaborative development. Exposure to system-level programming concepts such as threading, memory management, low-latency processing, and platform resource constraints.

  • Exposure to machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and ML Ops tools for training, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Exposure to user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design concepts for human-centered AI applications—especially interfaces used for debugging, system control, or visualization.

  • Experience on cloud technologies and data infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) for scalable training, data storage, or system integration.

  • Effective problem-solving mindset, curiosity, and ability to learn quickly in a constantly evolving, cross-functional environment.

What's in it for you

We empower you to take the lead, share bold ideas, and shape real outcomes. You’ll grow through hands-on experience, mentorship, and learning that fits your goals. Here, your work doesn’t just matter, it moves things forward.

Here’s what we offer:

  • Attractive salary + performance-based bonus

  • Electric company car + European charging card

  • Comprehensive hospitalization, group, and pension insurance

  • Flexible work locations

  • Freedom to plan your day, set your pace, and own your success stories
